As a former counseling client himself, Drew understands what it feels like to navigate the counseling process and holds that it can be one of life’s most transformational experiences. Drew brings a nonjudgmental and optimistic approach to counseling and believes there is always hope in any given situation.
Drew specializes in working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, grief & loss, trauma, and men’s mental health issues, and has extensive experience working with marginalized populations living in low-income areas. He has experience supporting clients across the lifespan and helps those seeking support through individual, couples, and family counseling.
He focuses on Existential Therapy, in which he helps clients discover areas of life that bring purpose and meaning, highlights ways we can choose to respond to hardship, and supports clients unconditionally as they make choices that best suit their needs. Drew also honors a Person-Centered counseling approach in which he believes in genuinely listening to client’s lived experiences, following discussion where clients want to go, and affirming that clients have the ability to reach their goals.
Drew is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned his Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University in Chicago and his Bachelor of Science in Special Education at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to becoming a therapist, he served as a special educator for seven years, with a focus on supporting students and families from Chicago-area, low-income communities needing emotional and behavioral support.
