Sophie Phillips, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I earned my Master’s of Social Work from Loyola University, and I have experience working in education, community mental health, and group and individual therapy. My professional background includes working with trauma, emotional regulation, and managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. I believe that with the right support, healing is possible. I strive to create a space where clients feel accepted to come as they are and encouraged to express themselves fully. My approach is strengths based and collaborative, and I work alongside clients to help them feel better about themselves and empowered to make decisions about their lives.
Areas of Focus / Specialties
I work with individuals who are navigating:
-
Life transitions
-
Healing from trauma
-
Identity issues
-
LGBTQ+, polyamory, nontraditional relationships
My work is informed by CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy. I tailor sessions to each client’s needs, incorporating reflective discussion, actionable steps to practice symptom management, and insight about developmental experiences. Clients often describe me as reflective, open minded, and engaged. In sessions, you can expect thoughtful questions and a deeper understanding of yourself and how you show up in the world. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy making art, playing and listening to music, watching video essays, and walking around in the city. I believe that the better we can learn to care for ourselves, the more completely we can show up in the environments and the relationships that enrich our lives.
