Max Chung

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. My clinical experience has primarily focused on working with adults and young adults navigating a wide range of mental health concerns and life challenges.

I believe meaningful change begins with learning to fully accept and understand where we are right now. I take a holistic and existential approach to therapy, with an emphasis on the mind-body connection and the many factors that shape our well-being, relationships, and sense of meaning. I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where we can compassionately explore what may be getting in the way, deepen your understanding of yourself, and move toward a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. Whatever feels important or worthwhile in your life, I would be honored to help you move toward it.

Areas of Focus:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and the impact of past experiences
  • Relationship challenges
  • Identity and existential concerns
  • Life transitions
  • Self-esteem and personal growth
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected, or unfulfilled

My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic approaches, self-compassion, and insight-oriented therapy. I tailor therapy to each individual, drawing on these approaches to help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and patterns, connect more deeply with their values, and respond to life with greater flexibility and self-understanding.

Nearly a decade of dedicated meditation practice and training has also deeply shaped the way I approach therapy. Through this experience, I have come to value genuine presence, curiosity toward our inner lives, and the role that acceptance and self-compassion can play in creating meaningful change.

My style is compassionate, curious, and engaged. In sessions, you can expect thoughtful conversation and reflection, practical tools when helpful, and space to slow down and explore what may be happening beneath the surface. I aim to balance acceptance and compassion with gentle challenge, helping clients better understand themselves while taking meaningful steps toward the lives they want to create.

Outside of my clinical practice, I enjoy DJing and creating music, practicing yoga, and spending time in nature. These interests help me stay connected to creativity, presence, and a sense of balance in my own life.
