Julia Fakhoury, MSW, LSW
I earned my Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work from Aurora University. I am a Licensed Social Worker and Therapist at Innovative Counseling Partners who works with individuals of all ages, cultures, backgrounds, and religions.
I have experience working in inpatient mental health and a residential substance use rehab. I believe in creating a nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their experiences and build meaningful change.
I believe in providing a culturally competent environment and I recognize the systems in place that affect a client’s well being and situation. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, and I work alongside clients to help them achieve their goals and better their lives and mental health.
Areas of Focus / Specialties
I work with individuals who are navigating:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Substance use
- Children, Teens, Young Adults, and Adults
My work is informed by CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and a strengths based and solutions focused lens. I have an interest and experience working with Trauma and PTSD. I tailor sessions to each client’s needs, incorporating coping strategies, mindfulness, and distress tolerance. I utilize play therapy with children.
Clients often describe me as compassionate and non judgemental. In sessions, you can expect a strengths based approach, and distress tolerance and coping skills being taught.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with family and my dogs, crocheting, and watching anime. I believe diversity, equity, and inclusion is one of the most important aspects of treatment.
