Jennifer Froemel, Owner & Founder

Jennifer Froemel, CIMHP, LCPC, is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has practiced since 1996. She earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University and is the founder and owner of Innovative Counseling Partners, PLLC, established in 2014.

Jennifer collaborates with medical, alternative, and spiritual practitioners to provide a holistic, integrative approach to mental wellness. A lifelong mentor, she has served as a clinical internship supervisor since 1999 and oversees a formal training program for second-year master’s students at Innovative Counseling Partners.

With over three decades of experience, Jennifer has worked in community mental health centers, hospitals, residential programs, clinics, and higher education. She has taught Advanced Psychology at DeVry University and has supervised hundreds of emerging clinicians.

A dedicated leader and advocate within Illinois’ counseling community, Jennifer currently serves as:

  • Lead Liaison, Illinois Counseling Association’s Insurance Task Force (since 2009)

  • Advisory Board Member, Adler University

  • Facilitator, Cicero Community Collaborative

  • Midwest Region Board Member, National Children’s Study

  • Past President (two terms), Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association

Beyond her professional leadership, Jennifer is deeply engaged in her community as a Scoutmaster for Scouts BSA, Girl Scouts leader, and former PTA and church board member. In her personal time, she enjoys trekking in the U.S., Canada, and Nepal, gardening, and rescuing feral cats.

Jennifer practices an integrative model combining evidence-based and holistic modalities, including Trauma-Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, EMDR, ART, Gottman Method, Theraplay, Mindfulness, and Family Systems approaches. She works with adults, couples, youth, and families, specializing in trauma, mood disorders, attachment, addiction, parenting, and relational dynamics. Her work spans diverse populations, including African American, Latino, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

As a public advocate for mental health, Jennifer has been featured as an expert on Fox News, CBS, Hoy, WTTW Channel 11, and Radio 105.1 FM’s The Cristina Show. She also hosted The Dr. Ruth for Youth show on CAN-TV and is the creator and host of The Fear of Change Podcast, where she explores how individuals and organizations can transform fear into growth, purpose, and alignment.

A respected speaker and trainer, Jennifer presents on culturally responsive care, supervision, practice management, and insurance systems. She has also treated and consulted on pastoral sexual abuse cases for the Chicago Archdiocese, and in 2025, trained 25 Nepali clinicians in Kathmandu to support trauma-informed care initiatives.

Jennifer is also a Reiki Master (since 2019) and trained in Akashic Records Level 1 (since 2020).
