Clare Cooley,
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for both my bachelors and masters degrees in Social Work. Three years ago I completed my UIUC master’s level internship at Innovative Counseling Partners and have been a full-time clinician ever since! I have worked with clients ages 10 and up with all kinds of life experiences.
I love to incorporate laughter, creativity, and client autonomy in sessions. My hope is to show up as human and empower others to do the same. I tailor my approach from person to person, but a typical session can include using art, playing games, learning new techniques, writing, mindfulness, or simply talking.
Areas of Focus / Specialties
I work with individuals who are navigating:
- Trauma and C-PTSD
- Depression
- Anxieties and self-esteem
- Relationship conflict
- Grief
- Life Transitions
- Chronic illness
My work is informed by therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, somatic therapy, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
Clients often describe me as feeling like a close friend who will bring awareness to your negative habits and challenge thoughts. In sessions you can expect thoughtful conversations, therapeutic guidance or suggestions, and encouragement to lead your own growth.
In my free time I enjoy seeing live music, exploring the city, camping, and maintaining my own self-care and wellness habits. My favorite ways to decompress are pretty cliche – give me a bath, a book, and a face mask and I’m in heaven!
