Sophia Eidson,
Master’s Level Therapist
I received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. I have practiced across diverse settings, including community health, private practice, residential treatment, education, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. My professional background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults. I practice with a cultural competence lens and have experience working with underserved populations, specializing in Latinx immigrants.
I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to inspire change, and am passionate about creating an environment where clients are comfortable to be their authentic selves. My approach is collaborative and together we will work to build insight, overcome challenges, and work toward goals.
Areas of Focus/Specialties
I work with individuals who are navigating:
- Anxiety and Depression
-
Trauma (including acculturative stress and intergenerational trauma)
-
Attention-Deficit/
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder in children and adults -
Relationship Conflicts
-
Identity Development and Self Esteem
My work is informed by an integrative approach based in Psychodynamic, Person Centered, and Trauma Informed Care principles. Sessions incorporate insight, coping skills, here-and-now process, and play therapy for children. I emphasize the mind-body connection, mindfulness, and a holistic lens that tailors treatment to each client’s needs.
Clients describe me as non-judgemental, warm, and compassionate. Therapy will include thoughtful conversation, a trusting relationship, connections between your past and present, exploration of your authentic self, practical daily coping skills, and other techniques we collaborate on. I incorporate humor and lightness when appropriate.
Outside of sessions, I enjoy exploring Chicago’s food scene, parks, and beaches. I love to read, practice yoga, and spend time with friends and family. I look forward to connecting with each new client and supporting them in reaching their goals.
I provide counseling services in English and Spanish.
