Crystal Pettus

Crystal Pettus, M.S.

I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling from National Louis University and have experience in community mental health and private practice. My professional background includes working with children, teens, adults, couples, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I believe that choosing a counselor is an important and personal decision. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what you are experiencing. I strive to build meaningful therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, empathy, respect, and genuine connection. I believe you should feel heard, understood, and respected not judged.

My approach is client-centered, culturally sensitive, and integrative. I work alongside each client to understand their unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether you are working through a difficult transition, feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, processing past experiences, or simply trying to better understand yourself, I am here to support you as you move toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful personal growth.

Areas of Focus / Specialties

I work with individuals who are navigating:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety, depression, and life transitions
  • Grief and loss
  • Neurodivergence

My work is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), trauma-informed care, strength-based approaches, and mindfulness-based interventions. I tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs, strengths, experiences, and goals. Together, we can identify practical tools and strategies that can help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, navigate challenges, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change.

Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, practical, and nonjudgmental. In sessions, you can expect a space where you can slow down, talk honestly, and feel supported as you work through the things that brought you to counseling. I believe therapy is not about having all the answers, it is about having a supportive person beside you as you discover your own strengths, possibilities, and path.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, listening to live music, and roller skating. These experiences remind me of the importance of connection, balance, joy, and creating meaningful memories. I believe every person holds unique strengths, and healing begins with connection.

It would be an honor to walk alongside you during your counseling journey. Wherever you are beginning, you do not have to navigate it alone.
