Chandana’s Story: A Journey of Resilience
At just 14 years old, Chandana has endured more hardship than most will in a lifetime. Born into extreme poverty, she faced abandonment early in life when her mother left her and her younger sister behind. Their father, who had been working in India, returned in search of them, hoping to bring his daughters back together. However, tragedy struck – he fell ill and passed away, leaving them orphaned.
With no one to care for them, Chandana and her younger sister were separated. An elderly couple in the village took in her sister, while Chandana was sent to live with a cousin sister. Instead of finding stability, she became vulnerable once again. One day, when she was alone, she was raped by her cousin sister’s brother-another heartbreaking chapter in her young life.
When the abuse was eventually discovered, authorities stepped in, and a local organization rescued Chandana. A few months later, she was referred to Antardristi Nepal, where she finally found safety, support, and the hope of rebuilding her life.
How Antardristi Nepal Provides a Lifeline
For girls like Chandana, Antardristi Nepal is more than just a shelter-it’s a lifeline. The organization provides:
- A Safe Haven – Survivors are placed in a secure, nurturing environment where they are protected from further harm.
- Trauma Counseling – Trained professionals help girls process their experiences, rebuild self-esteem, and regain hope.
- Education and Life Skills – Survivors are given access to schooling and training to help them achieve independence.
- Long-Term Support – Healing takes time, and Antardristi Nepal ensures that survivors have the resources they need to recover fully.
Chandana’s life is now on a new path. She is receiving counseling, attending school, and regaining the sense of safety and security she lost so long ago. But many other girls are still waiting for this chance – and Antardristi Nepal is running out of resources to provide it.
Why We Must Act Now
Antardristi Nepal’s funding is at risk, and without urgent support, young survivors like Chandana could lose access to the safety and care they need to heal. Without a secure shelter, mental health support, and education, these vulnerable girls may find themselves back in unsafe environments.
That’s why Innovative Counseling Partners (ICP) is working to raise $50,000 by April 2025. This funding will ensure that Antardristi Nepal can continue its mission of protecting, healing, and empowering young survivors.
Every dollar raised goes directly toward:
- Providing safe housing for survivors.
- Ensuring access to trauma counseling and mental health services.
- Supporting education and vocational training for long-term stability.
- Advocating for child protection in Nepal.
Together, we can make sure no girl is left behind.
