At just 14 years old, Sharmila has experienced more trauma than any child should ever endure. Growing up in Sindhuli, Nepal, she lived with her father in Kathmandu, where he worked in a brick factory. What should have been a home filled with care and protection instead became a place of unimaginable pain. Her own father, the person meant to safeguard her, became her abuser. Tragically, when others in the neighborhood learned of her vulnerability, they, too, took advantage of her. This is why we must have have hope for Nepal girls.
Yet, Sharmila’s story is not just one of offering – it is one of survival, resilience, and recovery. Thanks to Antardristi Nepal, she has found hope and healing. But now, the very organization that helped her is at risk of losing funding, and we need your support to ensure girls like Sharmila continue to receive the care they desperately need.
Breaking the Cycle of Trauma #hopefornepalgirls
When Sharmila’s mother learned about the abuse, she made the brave decision to take legal action. Her father was arrested, and a local organization intervened to rescue her from her unsafe environment. However, the question remained: Where could she go to begin healing?
That’s when Antardtristi Nepal stepped in. The organization welcomed Sharmila with open arms, providing her with:
- A Safe Place to Heal – She was given immediate shelter away from her abusers, ensuring she never had to live in fear again.
- Trauma-Focused Counseling – Specialized mental health professionals worked with her to process her trauma and regain her sense of self-worth.
- Education and Future Opportunities – Despite her painful past, Sharmila was encouraged to return to school, allowing her to dream of a brighter future.
This holistic approach is what makes Antardristi Nepal a lifeline for survivors of abuse. However, without funding, this critical work cannot continue.
Hope for Nepal Girls – Why We Must Act Now
Thousands of young girls in Nepal face situations similar to Sharmila’s. Without intervention, many remain trapped in cycles of abuse, poverty, and trauma.
Antardristi Nepal relies on donations to continue providing shelter, counseing, and education. But with funding set to run out by April 2025, the future of girls like Sharmila hangs in the balance.
At Innovative Counseling Partners (ICP), we are committed to helping raise $50,000 to keep this program alive.
