Jennifer Froemel, CMHIMP, has been in private practice as a bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 1998. Jennifer received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in 1996. Jennifer is the founder/owner and therapist at Innovative Counseling Partners, PLLC since 2014. She provides consultive services with medical, alternative, and spiritual practitioners to ensure a holistic approach to improve client mental wellness.
Jennifer has worked as a bilingual mental health clinician in community mental health centers, hospitals, residential treatment centers, clinics, and in different supervisory capacities in both medical and mental health settings since 1991. She has taught Advanced Psychology at DeVry University and has been a field placement supervisor for Masters’ level students for the last 25 years.
Jennifer strongly believes in the importance of serving in the counseling fields’ professional networks in Illinois where she is:
- The lead Liaison to the Illinois Counseling Associations’ Insurance Taskforce since 2009.
- A member of the Advisory Board at Adler University.
- The Facilitator to the Cicero Community Collaborative.
- A member of the Midwest Region Board of the National Children’s Study.
And she has served two terms as President of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.
Additionally, Jennifer currently serves her community as the Scouts BSA Scoutmaster for Troop 31G and Scout Leader for Girl Scouts Troop 40892. She previously served on the Parent Teacher Association and local church board.
Jennifer serves clients using an integrative approach to mental and physical wellness. She provides therapy using the following treatment methods in her work with adults, couples, youth and families: Cognitive Behavioral, Gottman, Integrative Mental Health approaches, Dialectical Behavioral, Mindfulness, Theraplay, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Family Systems Therapies.
Jennifer is very passionate about ensuring quality mental health care is available to all. She has worked with diverse populations including African- American, Latino, and LGBTQIA throughout the years. She is trauma-trained and uses evidence-based interventions in individual, marital, family, and group work. She has a long history of helping those with eating disorders, sexual addiction, bipolar disorder, trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment, substance misuse and parenting issues.
Jennifer has been consulted as a psychological expert on TV for WFLD 32 Fox News, CBS, Hoy and WTTW Channel 11. She has been interviewed on radio and on podcasts such as The Cristina Show on Radio 105.1FM and on Our Voices Unite Us. She regularly presents on how to address the Latino community in treatment. She has worked with the Chicago Archdiocese on cases of pastoral sexual abuse. She provides training related to clinical work, private practice management, and mental health billing.
Jennifer has received the Bea Wehrly Human Rights Award for Outstanding Human Rights Involvement from the Illinois Counseling Association in 2023. She was also featured in the Vogue Magazine in the Women in Business in Chicago for her work supporting people. In 2018 and 2019 she received the award for Clinical Excellence from the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.
Jennifer is a Reiki Master since 2019. She also is trained in Akashic Records level 1 since 2020.
