Life at times can be overwhelming and seeking support and help can be difficult when we are trying to find a balance. In addition to all of life’s stressors comes the added feeling of uncertainty when seeking a new counselor or therapist. Finding a good fit for your needs is important when you are investing your time into searching or receiving professional help. With that in mind, I would like to share with you some background information about myself and my theoretical approach to counseling. I have acquired over 7 years of experience working in the mental health field. Initially, I began working at inpatient/outpatient mental health organizations assisting children and adolescents who’ve endeavored severe trauma and have been diagnosed with a wide range of mental health concerns. I have also worked at a school that specializes in helping children and adolescents who are diagnosed with Autism. I have recently earned my Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health at Northern Illinois University. I specialize in working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and mood disorders. I also have experience working with marginalized populations, such as the LGBTQIA+ Community, Latino/x Community, and African American Community.
In my approach to counseling, I utilize Person-Centered Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family-Systems Theory in a holistic approach to empower and increase your overall personal wellness. The focal point to my approach is the idea that you are not the problem, but the problem is the problem. You are the expert in your own experience, and together we will collaborate in processing your concern’s influence over you and your life. Ultimately, I will work to create a safe and multicultural environment for you to share your story with me.
