Sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed, isn’t it? Sometimes you feel defeated, worry takes over, feels like you’re trying to breathe under water, doesn’t it? We become so avoidant of emotions that some of us turn to alcohol and/drugs or other unhealthy behaviors for help. There’s no time for family or friends or self-care. We become stuck in this loop of unsatisfaction or just pain that doesn’t seem to end. Sometimes it’s hard to move, to motivate, to socialize, to change when we have these loud negative voices screaming in our heads that we’re not good enough, we don’t deserve better.
It can all change! Together we find ways to fight the negative self talk, we gain power to get out of bed and be present at work, home, with children and friends. We finally find the energy and motivation to smile. We start caring for ourselves, we find the time, it becomes easy. Together, we can put down the alcohol and/or drugs and stop unhealthy behaviors.
Being a clinical therapist working with mental health and addiction since 2014, I have seen therapy work and it becomes easier to breathe and function in this world. I work with different therapy modalities, mostly focusing on CBT, DBT, ACT and trauma focused therapy. I have worked in different treatment settings and I found that best treatment approach is when we work together. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, families, couples and children and each population has milestones and struggles that are equally valid.
