Sharmila’s Journey from Trauma to Learning
At just 14 years old, Sharmila had already endured unimaginable trauma. She suffered abuse at the hands of her father and later others in her community. After being rescued, she arrived at Antardristi Nepal, where she finally found safety.
Returning to school seemed impossibl at first. Years of instability had disrupted her learning, making it difficult to catch up. With the support of Antardristi Nepal, however, she began attending classes again. Caring teachers encouraged her progress, while mentors helped her rebuild her confidence. Over time, she started making friends, setting goals, and envisioning a future full of possibilities.
Her journey highlights the power of education in breaking cycles of trauma. However, without continued funding, many other girls may never have this chance.
