I have a Master of Counseling degree from Northwestern University and am currently working on a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision through Walden University. I am a Certified Alcohol and Other drugs of abuse Counselor [CADC] and a certified Mental Illness and Substance Abuse [MISA I] counselor.
I am also currently working on becoming a Certified Mental Health Integrated Medicine Practitioner [CMHIMP] because I believe in assessing the “whole self” and in providing a holistic approach to physical and mental health. My dissertation is related to using dietary interventions to improve brain health and brain function.
My theoretical approach is psychodynamic, therefore I look at how the experiences of the client’s entire lifespan are affecting their current life experience. My ultimate goal is to find holistic ways to improve my clients’ quality of life. I currently also work as a practicum supervisor for Northwestern University’s Counseling@Northwestern program and as an intern supervisor at ICP.
