I am a mindfulness and somatic-based therapist guided by compassion and a belief that each person deserves to live their best life. My approach is rooted in a gentle inquisitiveness and incorporates feminist therapy and social justice through the investigation of intersecting identities and complexities, and through an exploration of the ways in which they are related to our social environments. Using body-centered psychotherapy, expressive arts, and a phenomenological approach, I support clients to develop connection, insight, and care toward themselves and their behaviors. I also use Somatic Experiencing® to process trauma and difficult emotions building greater connection and sense of empowerment.
I engage in a personal reflexive process to understand my own social identities and experiences of my personal social and political contexts. I am a white-bodied cisgender female of white European descent. I have lived in both predominantly white-bodied communities as well as in urban centers that are racially and economically segregated. Prior to becoming a mental health professional, I worked as an advocate and paralegal. I am as equally committed to the process of internal healing and transformation as that of societal healing and transformation, and I perceive these to be intertwined.
I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology. I am a meditation instructor, counselor educator, and I am working toward a PhD in counselor education and supervision. I have additional training in substance use and addictions, as well as dance/movement therapy and in somatic experiencing® from Somatic Experiencing® International.
