My primary goal as your therapist is to understand your inner experiences and what brought you to therapy. Have you felt that your life has been spinning out of control for a while? Have you put too much emphasis on the goodwill of others instead of your own happiness and fulfillment only to achieve neither? Are you tired of your inability to say “no” to others and then finding yourself drained from your vital life force? Are you anxious or fearful of love or of death? Are you trying to forgive yourself and/or others? Are you feeling disconnected from yourself and others and unsure of who you are anymore? When was the last time you felt happy? Our basic humanity makes us all experience core emotional feelings of rapture, joy, and fulfillment, as well as shame, guilt, fear, grief, isolation, withdrawal, hopelessness, helpless, despair, jealousy, envy and discontent, at various times. As your therapist, I will help you explore the origins of your difficult emotions and the root causes of your negative self-beliefs. What happened in your life that made you feel: “I am not good enough,” “I am not confident,” “I must be bad,” “I am not important,” etc.? These are critical explorations and an invitation for you to meet yourself in deep and meaningful ways, perhaps, in ways you had never even imagined. I am an experienced and an astute psychotherapist who is capable of understanding your unique set of circumstances and discerning of the depth of your emotional life. I am a staunch advocate and a trusted guide who respects that the answers you seek about the truth of who you are, your life meaning and purpose, are already within you and awaiting discovery. I am interested in your life stories. Together, I hope we will reconstruct your biographical account to include stories of your wisdom, resilience and sheer determination that have enabled you to overcome life obstacles.
I graduated from the University of Chicago with a Masters Degree in Social Work in 2006. I have worked in various community mental health centers, in inpatient psychiatric units, and in Hospice, before working in private practice. I have experience working with clients from many different age groups, races, ethnicities, gender orientations and sexual identities, and religions. I am a lifelong seeker of knowledge and spiritual experiences, but, most importantly, I am a therapist who is constantly investing in my own healing and personal transformation. In 2016, I commenced my studies in trauma treatment with the Wellness Institute in Seattle, including hypnotherapy, breath-work, and psycho-drama training. Today, I continue to be an avid student of David Hartman, the founder of Wellness Institute, advancing my understanding on how transpersonal, spiritual practices, as well as living in awareness and in pure consciousness, are key to living a more peaceful and contented life. I place a heavy emphasis on living a meditative lifestyle because I believe, by quieting the chatter in our minds, we are afforded a clearer view on how we see ourselves, others and what is happening in and around us. I am trained in EMDR (level 1), Energy Psychology (level 1), and am a Reiki Master Teacher, who brings education on the mind-body connection into my work with my clients.
