Karen Escobar, BA

Karen Escobar received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (BA) from Concordia University. Before applying to graduate school, she applied her skills working for non-profit agencies, establishing strong rapports with different communities in need of social services.  Presently she is a second year student working towards her Master’s degree in Social Work with a concentration in, Military- at Dominican University.

Ms. Escobar is currently a bilingual Child Welfare-Service Employee Licensed (CWEL) caseworker for a DCFS private agency. Previously, she worked as a case manager providing services for the undocumented immigrant population. Additionally, Ms. Escobar has worked with several community based agencies providing case management services for students and families throughout Chicago, including CPS, and the Berwyn public school system.

Ms. Escobar is eager to continue with her education to be better prepared to serve the community, and specifically, active duty and returning veterans as a mental health professional.  She is eclectic in her approach to working with clients as she uses psychoanalytic style in a cognitive behavioral approach while integrating other methods in her treatment.
